Common English Mistakes Learners Make (Set 1)
Five mistakes learners make in everyday English โ with the natural correct version.
Myself, Rahul.
I'm Rahul.
Using 'Myself, [name]' as a self-introduction sounds odd to native speakers. They simply say 'I'm [name]'.
I am living here since 5 years.
I have been living here for 5 years.
'Since' + starting point. 'For' + duration. Pair with present perfect tense, not simple present.
Please revert back to me.
Please get back to me.
'Revert' already means 'go back to a previous state' โ adding 'back' is redundant.
Do one thing.
Here's an idea.
'Do one thing' as a phrase to introduce a suggestion sounds odd in standard English. Use 'Here's an idea' or 'How about this'.
Order for two coffees.
Order two coffees.
'Order' takes a direct object. No 'for' needed.
